The process begins with a meticulously prepared substrate—usually concrete—that’s cleaned, mechanically profiled, and primed to ensure optimal adhesion and longevity. Once the primer/basecoat cures, a layer of custom-blended high‑solids epoxy or resin is applied to create the canvas for your design. This base sets the tone for color saturation and durability, ensuring that the floor is both stunning and resilient.
Next comes the creative magic: decorative elements like Polymer Flake, Resin Quartz, natural mica, colored mica, glitter, recycled glass, or pearlescent pigments are broadcast onto the still-tacky coating. Polymer Flake comes in over 150 color styles and six sizes, adding texture, anti-slip properties, and customization options. For pearlescent effects, pigments are pre-mixed into the epoxy 24 hours before application to allow nanoscopic particles to disperse evenly. During this step, installers can layer different effects—such as mica for shimmer or colored flake for depth—to build a truly unique surface.
After the decorative broadcast, the floor is allowed to cure before being screened or lightly sanded. A clear topcoat of epoxy, polyurethane, or polyaspartic is then applied to encapsulate the decorative media, creating a smooth, durable, sealed surface. This final layer not only enhances resistance against abrasion and UV exposure but also boosts visual depth and sheen—bringing out the brilliance of metallic pigments or the natural elegance of stone-like blends. The result? A seamless, artful floor that’s as functional as it is visually stunning.
